  • Tequila Vinson-Bogan, LCMHC-S, LPC

Tequila holds a Master of Arts degree in Professional Counseling and a Master of Arts degree in Human Services Counseling with a concentration in Life Coaching from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, where I graduated twice in May 2014 and December 2015.

I currently provide support to adolescents, and adults. I spent several years working in an outpatient treatment facility with adolescents and adults diagnosed with mild to moderate mental health, behavioral, and substance abuse issues. My latter years of counseling experience includes my practicum and internship experience where I worked with adults in a psychosocial rehabilitation center and individual counseling. I completed my individual and group experience with adults with mental health issues while assisting them in reducing their life impeding mental health symptoms. In these professional settings, I have gained experience in the following areas: substance abuse, child and adolescent groups, psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, coping skills strategies, basic life skill groups, and individual/group therapy. In addition, my community-based agency experience provided me the opportunity to work with a variety of mental illnesses, including but not limited to, Major Depression, ADD/ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and anxiety disorders. I have also maintained numerous hours of training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and crisis management as well as crisis response. My approach is informed by several theories, including person-centered, cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused, and relational therapies and techniques, to promote strengths-based change. My particular areas of interest and experience are in identity, relationships, anxiety, depression, coping skills, individual growth, suicidal ideation, self-injurious behavior, and mindfulness.
